Aims of the Society

  • To promote and cultivate an interest in, and a love of the organ and its music.

  • To promote a friendly exchange of ideas amongst members of the Society.

  • To promote meetings, events and publications pertaining to the organ.

  • To encourage a high standard of musicianship amongst its members.

    Beat the winter blues by joining the Society for an enjoyable evening of fabulous music, information and soup!

    Watch two superb DVDs in the warm surrounds of the St John's Hall. These are:

  • Ian Tracey presenting a fascinating guided tour and demonstration on the 5-manual Willis organ in Liverpool Cathedral.

  • American virtuoso Gerre Hancock (organist for many years at St Thomas' Fifth Avenue, New York and prominent recitalist) performing and in interviews as port of the world-renowned 'Organ Master' series.

The Society of Organists is delighted to announce the publication of The Southern Cross Collection: Organ Music by Australian Composers. The collection contains the successful entries form the New Organ Music Awards held in 2008 as part of the Society of Organists' 70th anniversary celebrations, dedicated to the memory of Ian Harrison.
