FEES FOR ORGANISTS

It is four years since the rates on this page were calculated. Council is aware that adjustment for CPI (1.098 in the period to March 2010) needs to be made and that the rates need to reflect what organists are receiving so that churches and organists who use this information as a basis for establishing remuneration levels have more up-to-date and useful information. We are also aware that, despite the paragraph immediately following this one, that it is difficult to negotiate fees for more experienced and qualified organists based on these fees which were set for minimum experience and qualification. As an example, most organists are now receiving more than $200 for a wedding. We will also aware of some anomalies on this page which will be addressed during the review of these fees.

The Council stresses that this SOV Fee Scale for Church Organists/Musicians sets out these minimum fees for those who are qualified, experienced and competent. It is also offered as the basis for negotiation by Organists/Musicians, and for those who have less experience and/or no professional qualification.

1. FEE STRUCTURE for SALARIED POSITION

 

            Organist with ability and experience - one weekly service, no choir            $120

                                52 weeks including 4 weeks paid annual leave

                                        Sick leave negotiated                                                  $6,240

 

            Organist with ability and experience

                                One weekly service and choir rehearsal                                $150

                                [accompaniment under choir director]

                                52 weeks including 4 weeks paid annual leave

                                            Sick leave negotiated                                              $7,800

 

            Organist and Choir Director qualified and experienced

                                One service and one full choir rehearsal                                $240

                                52 weeks including 4 weeks paid annual leave

            Organist and Choir Director qualified and experienced

         Additional Services not included as part of Salary Package

                                Such as for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday,
